Enfin après un nombre incalculable de tentative j’ai réussi à me logger.
La période estivale recommençant faudrait qu’on arrive à caler la date de la Garden, voir à se prévenir quand on descend histoire qu’on ne fasse pas que se croiser ><’

Une semaine est passé, une semaine de cours à Imperial, une semaine de quasi-bonheur.
On a pas fait grand chose pour l’instant, mais les cours vont vite, très très vite. Et puis, si tu comprends pas, beh, t’es un poil dans la merde. Et ça c’est drôle, voir les gens paniquer parce qu’ils croyaient tout savoir et qu’en faite ils ne savent rien.
On est en train de faire de la prog dite “fonctionnelle”, en faite c’est plutôt des maths assisté par ordinateur. En cours de TS, je me rappelle, on nous donnait une valeur et une fonction et on nous disait, “va petit, va résoudre ça et puis tu seras content”. Maintenant on nous donne une valeur et un résultat et on nous dit “va petit, va écrire la fonction qui transforme cette valeur pour retrouver ce résultat, et pour te faire chier, ça doit fonctionner pour tout n, et puis t’as pas le droit d’utiliser de divisions ou de multiplications. haha”.
C’est super drôle, surtout quand on te demande de créer une fonction qui te permet de déterminer si oui ou non un nombre est un nombre premier. En plus, la prog fonctionnelle, c’est vraiment pas fait pour les gens qui ont l’habitude de programmer dans autre chose que le fonctionnel, il y a pleins de limitations qui t’empêchent de le résoudre comme tu ferais normalement. Mais c’est drôle. Vraiment.
Mais les gens aussi ils sont drôles, ils posent des questions connes qui n’ont rien à voir avec le sujet, mais juste pour montrer qu’ils connaissent des termes avancés. C’est un peu comme aller en cours de physique en 5e et, lors d’un cours d’électricité, poser une question sur l’Interprétation de Copenhague de la mécanique quantique. Techniquement, c’est pertinent (dans la mesure où c’est la même matière), mais en réalité pas du tout. Alors toi, tu te sens tout fier, mais tous les gens autour de toi ils te regardent avec un air qui dit “pôv tâche” et puis le prof dit un truc pertinent qui te remet bien à ta place comme “euh, je ne pense pas que tu comprendrais si je tentes de te l’expliquer”.
Alors moi, pour éviter ça, je fermes ma gueule. Je pose pas de questions, sauf si c’est vraiment important (et pertinent).
Bon, je ferais un compte rendu plus en détail après cette semaine, quand j’aurais eu mes premiers cours de “Logic”, “Computer Systems” et “Mathematical Methods”. En attendant je retournes à ma petite fonction qui calcule des probas en utilisant que des soustractions et un coupe ongles.

Avez vous déja eu le malheur de devoir faire un truc que vous n’avez pas fait depuis un bon moment…?
Moi oui… Ma mére étant partie durant une semaines, ce matin je me suis retrouvé à court de calecons… Un moment de panique s’est alors emparé de moi quand j’ai pensé à cette invention d’un autre age au confort plus que douteux… le slip…
l’habitude fait faire des trucs bizzare, comme faire claquer l’élastique alors que celui d’un slip est beaucoup plus tendus… chercher pendant 5minute l’ouverture dans le calecon alors que on a mis un slip… se gratter les couilles alors que maintenant ces dernieres sont presque entierement incrustée dans mon entre-jambe…
Heureusement le premier truc qu’a fait ma mère en arrivant c’est la machine à laver…

Vous vous souvennez surement tous de cette PUB au combien grotesque, d’un petit chien qui ayant entéré son os, ne peut plus le récupérer car le sol est recouvert d’une épaisse végétation d’adventices. Ce petit chien malin va donc chercher un flacon d’un produit miracle, et chose stupéfiante sait se servir de sa pate (sans pouce oposable) pour faire un “pshit” magique et tuer toutes les vilaines herbes et ainsi récupéré son os. Tout ça pour en arriver à mon stage. Ca fait donc 2jours que j’y suis et 2jours que je me dit que ce petit chien a dut faire un stage la bas dans son enfance et être traumatiser au point d’inventer ce flacon que l’on nomme caca ou plus régulierement Roundup.
En effet voici 2jours que j’arrache des adventices plus hautes que moi et j’ai même pas dut faire 10% de l’entreprise.

Ahhh… C’est donc ça la vie londonienne? ça y resemble en tout cas… Tous les jours je me lèves tôt, je m’habilles et hop vais prendre la metro pour aller au centre de Londres. Me voilà, dans la metro en train de lire un gros bouquin sur le vie de Mao, entouré de gens en train de lire toutes sortes de choses.
Hop, j’arrives au centre, je descends du train, je passes par Starbucks en direction du bureau et j’arrives 5 min en avance. Je parles un peu avec les autres membres de l’équipe et puis on se met au travail, pour moi ça consiste à dialoguer direcetement avec le serveur avec des messages XML pour voir si oui ou non il dit des conneries mais pour les autres ça peut être n’importe quoi.
Si j’ai soif je me lèves et je traverses le bureau où devant moi le choix entre café, thé, sprite, eau, coca (et coca light), tout ça gratuit et à volonté. Vers midi on descend tous en groupe et on se dirige vers une petite sandwicherie italienne (moi, bien sûr en route, j’en profites pour fumer une cigarette). Et puis on retourne au boulot avec nos sandwichs dans la main.
Après une aprem de travail, vers 18h, je commences à rentrer chez moi, en arrivant à la metro on m’offre un journal gratuit que je lis tous les soirs dans le train (Mao c’est un peu lourd quand t’es fatigué). Et puis j’arrives à la maison. Je m’installes, j’enlèves mes chaussures et je bois une guinness. Et puis je travailles sur d’autres projets pour une autre entreprise.
Voilà ma journée à peu près, c’est long, mais sympa. Et ça paye bien. Et puis je suis devant des ordis toute la journée aussi.
Mais c’est vrai que c’est long, j’ai presque plus de temps pour des projets persos (je dis bien presque, bande de mollusques invisibles).

Comme vous le savez, ou peut être que vous ne le savez pas, je résides désormais à Londres. J’ai déménagé car j’ai un nouveau boulot et je commences lundi.
ça fait bien plus de 8 ans que je n’ai pas passé plus de 4 jours en Angleterre alors c’est un petit peu la redécouverte. C’était surtout drôle quand ma tante m’a présenté à mes cousins comme ‘le nouveau-cousin’. Rho.
J’ai reçu un email de mon grand père aujourd’hui aussi, il m’a décrit nôtre famille et il m’a donné leurs noms. On croirait que j’ai passé les dernières 10 années au fin fond de l’Afrique. Je connais ma famille, c’est vrai, promis. Je n’ai pas eu de mal à les reconnaître ni à les appeller par les prénoms. Je les ais peut êtres pas vus pendant 10 ans, mais je sais quand même qu’ils existent.
Bref, en faite cet article a été inspiré à la base par une observation sur une façette nouvelle de ma geekitude. ça fait depuis mercredi que je suis à Londres, je suis allé faire un tas de trucs administratifs comme aller à la banque, organiser le forfait de transport (appelé la carte “Huître”… ) etc… J’ai passé une journée à divaguer dans Londres dans le but de me situer.
J’étais assez confiant et donc aujourd’hui j’ai passé la journée à travailler. Là, j’étais sur le point de télécharger un truc et hop, ça me propose de le télécharger d’un site anglais au lieu du site allemand que j’avais choisi. Et paf! Ce n’est que là que je me suis rendu compte que j’habitais désormais à Londres.
ça a beau être intélligent un geek, mais qu’est ce que ça peut être détaché du monde… Il peut passer devant le Parlement britannique mais tant que son ordi affichera un drapeau allemand il se croira pas à Londres.

Pour 4 personnes :
- 1 reblochon
- 1 Kg de pommes de terre
- 10 cl de crème fraiche
- 150 gr de lardons
- 1 oignon
- Sel, Poivre |

Faire revenir dans une poêle dans du beurre des pommes de terre et un oignon. Saler et poivrer. Quand les pommes de terre sont cuites sans être dorées, les diposer dans un plat à gratin avec les lardons. Grattez légèrement le reblochon. Le couper dans le sens de l’épaisseur. L’étendre sur les pommes de terre, la croûte vers le bas. Arrosez le plat de crème fraiche

Mettre à four chaud (Th. 7-8) pendant 10 à 15 mn.
Dégustez avec une salade verte et un blanc de Savoie
Voilà, vous savez tout, même si cette recette n’est pas la seul, d’ailleur moi je fait pas comme ca, mais après c’est une histoire de feeling.
