Une des choses qui est bien à propose d’Imperial, c’est que assez souvent il y a des gens qui excellent dans leur domaine qui viennent visiter et faire des présentations. C’est des gens qui travaillent pour IBM, Google, Morgan-Stanley etc… Et donc c’est souvent assez intéressant. Bon, c’est sûr, parfois il faut faire le tri, il y a certains sujets qui les premières-années ne vont pas vraiment comprendre, donc c’est mieux d’aller faire autre chose. Dormir par exemple.
L’autre jour il y a quelqu’un de IBM qui est venu, je ne me rappelles plus de son nom mais il avait deux titres assez impressionnantes; Maître Inventeur et Ingénieur IBM Distingué. ça pète, non?
Bon, le sujet de sa présentation était l’intégration de l’informatique dans des services quotidiens pour rendre ces services plus intelligents. Par exemple, il a attaché un ordi à son compteur d’électricité, l’ordi relève des données toutes les 30s et les sauvegarde dans une base de données. Ces données sont ensuite publiés sur son serveur web sous la forme de statistiques. Ces statistiques sont en temps quasi-réel donc toute à droite du graphique correspond à cet instant précis (à peu près). Il a donc branché un Ambient Orb dessus qu’il a mis dans sa chambre. Plus l’orbe est rouge, plus il consomme d’électricité et donc il sait en allant se coucher si oui ou non il a laissé quoique ce soit allumé.
Il a fait plein d’autres applications comme ça, surtout dans le domaine industriel.
Par contre, comme tout geek, il a aussi fait des trucs un peu étranges, mais tellement drôles. Dans sa maison il a un problème de souris, donc il a des pièges à souris. Normale. Sauf que, si les pièges sont au grenier, le seul moyen de savoir s’ils fonctionnent c’est d’aller vérifier, et ça c’est chiant. Il a donc intégré le piège dans un circuit électrique, un circuit qui est brisé lorsque le piège se déclenche. Un ordinateur qui surveille ce petit réseau électrique détecte que le circuit est brisé et envoi un sms sur le portable.
Mais, ça ne s’arrête pas là! Le problème avec les pièges à souris, c’est que si on les laisse longtemps, le fromage se pourrit et les souris n’y toucheront pas. Le piège devient donc inutile. Encore une fois on se retrouve obligés d’aller vérifier si oui ou non le fromage s’est pourri, et le changer si nécessaire. C’est nul.
Le fromage est quelque chose d’assez ordinaire, assez humide et qui à tendance à pourrir assez vite si on le laisse au chaud. Plus le fromage pourrit, plus il y a d’humidité. Il a donc décidé de mesurer la résistivité du fromage à des intervalles pré-établies pour déterminer l’état du fromage. Une fois la résistivité passée en dessous d’un certain seuil, le fromage est considéré comme pourri et l’ordinateur lui envoie un sms disant qu’il est temps de le changer.
Même si ces applications sont un peu domestiques, c’est ce genre de truc qui m’inspire. L’intégration de l’informatique dans la vie de tous les jours pour rendre nôtre vie plus “intelligente”, c’est géniale.

Quand on est que deux potes, on va au o’shannon, ou autre part, on boit, on parle. C’est cool, ok, mais plus c’est mieux.
A trois, on boit, on parle, et y en a toujours au moins un pour faire un truc con et que les deux autres rigolent comme des bonbonnes (ou un seul, surtout quand c’est un histoire de briquet et de cheveux).
Hier soir, on était trois, et c’etait vraiment marrant. Perpignan se Nixonise, et maintenant on sait que l’on peut marcher sur les fontaine devant la fnac. Bon, on a pas encore trouvé le moyen de pas se mouillé en le faisant, mais ce seras pour une prochaine fois. Nos chaussures ont un peut trop bu la tasse (celles de marco crachouillaient à chaque pas, c’est tès rigolo (pfuït pfuït))
Le tag n’est pas super au point aussi, j’ai niqué mes magnifique pochoir de nixon et mao en les remettant dans mon sac en vitesse éclair (aarrrgggg).

Avez vous déja eu le malheur de devoir faire un truc que vous n’avez pas fait depuis un bon moment…?
Moi oui… Ma mére étant partie durant une semaines, ce matin je me suis retrouvé à court de calecons… Un moment de panique s’est alors emparé de moi quand j’ai pensé à cette invention d’un autre age au confort plus que douteux… le slip…
l’habitude fait faire des trucs bizzare, comme faire claquer l’élastique alors que celui d’un slip est beaucoup plus tendus… chercher pendant 5minute l’ouverture dans le calecon alors que on a mis un slip… se gratter les couilles alors que maintenant ces dernieres sont presque entierement incrustée dans mon entre-jambe…
Heureusement le premier truc qu’a fait ma mère en arrivant c’est la machine à laver…

Hier soir, c’était la pompom galli Garden Party, et c’était grandiose.
Il fallait le voir pour le croire. Mais un petit resumé s’impose : un bar d’exterieur, un méga canapalêt, une marre aux bieres, des baches a peindre en cours de soirée par les different participant à la beuverie (qui fut très belle d’ailleurs (10 sacs poubelles de merdes)), et diverse autres choses aussi inutiles que amusantes. Nous (tartif and göt) vous demandons de nous faire part de tout vos observations, remerciments, et nouvelles idées, parsque’il y aura une revanche (et c’est même déjà en route).

Comme vous avez put le vivre (sauf ceux qui n’y étaient pas), depuis deux ans on fait le reveillon chez moi. Bon, la premiere fois, c’était l’anarchie, le chaos (avec des lapins rouge, des pendaisons de barbies, un Fred en citrouille avec un fusille-harpon, …), mais j’ai remit ça l’année d’après, c’était moins folklorique, mais sympa quand même.
Du coup, j’ai décidé (sous la torture) de faire la même chose l’an prochain (et peut être les suivantes). Si je vous en parle si tôt, c’est parcequ’il faut trouver une idée sympa pour accompagné cette petite sauterie. Dans le style soirée déguissé, ou repas bizzare, avec des idée de déco (déguissé en papou, pas besoin de changer la déco) pour mon chez moi (juste le hall (qui est deja assez grand)). Comme je suis très rarement chez moi, si l’idée adoptée est compliqué, il faudra que je m’y prenne cette été.
Je demande donc à tous, même ceux qui ne sont pas de ppgac (certain sont des habitués je crois ?). Et si vos petits esprits de poule au regime sans céréales ne trouve rien de bien, ou de réalisable, j’ai déjà une idée qui me plait mais ce seras une surprise.

L’informatique a toujours été un enfant de la science, même quand la programmation a pris une toute autre dimension ça ne s’est jamais vraiment éloigné de cet chose “science”.
Cette matière qui est en faite un enfant d’un accouplement de la logique pure, les maths, l’éléctronique et de la modelisation.
Le tout premier worm lâché sur le net n’était qu’un worm par accident, en faite c’était un choix que le créateur avait pris pour ameliorer le fonctionnement de son programme qui a donné au tout premier worm sa capacité négative. Mais à la base c’était un simple programme pour calculer avec une certaine précision la taille de l’internet.
Il faut préciser que là on est en 2007 et même si la quantité d’ordinateurs connectés directement au net est limité à 4,294,967,296 (ou bien 232) adresses (en théorie, je ne prends pas en compte les adresses de champ privé, multicast ou autre) il existe une quantité bien plus importante d’ordinateurs sur le net qui sont cachés derrière des NAT (une adresse utilisée par plusieurs ordis derrière un router ou autre).
Aujourd’hui écrire un programme qui serait capable de calculer avec précision la taille du net est presque inpensable mais à cette époque c’était faisable car le net était beaucoup plus petit mais aussi était le royaume des scientifiques, le concept de parefeu était expérimentale, la sécurité réseau, même si importante, ne representait pas autant d’importance qu’aujourd’hui.
Ce programme était donc écrit pour des raisons scientifiques par un scientifique, il est donc normale que le code soit écrit de manière scientifique. En faite le worm contenait un code de probabilité, il ne se propagerait vers un autre ordinateur que 14% du temps. C’était une utilisation de la théorie de randomization, et ce code avait été inclu pour éviter justement de saturer le réseau.
En bas de chaque page de ppgac vous verrez désormais un quote tiré de bashfr.org, un site qui maintient une archive d’extraits de chat IRC relativement drôles. En faite pour ne pas “saturer le réseau” avec chaque chargement de page, j’ai employé une petite téchnique, mon code se nourit du flux RSS de bashfr.org, et garde une copie en cache locale pour ne pas le télécharger chaque fois. Les citations extraites du flux RSS sont ajoutés à la base de données de ppgac ou le nombre de fois qu’ils sont affichés est comptabilisé pour que la séléction du quote se fasse de manière aléatoire parmi les quotes les moins affichés. Le cache se rafraîchit à une intervalle respectable, pour faire en sorte qu’on ait les nouvelles quotes mais pour pas envoyer trop de requêtes vers bashfr.
Et puis dans un élan de nostalgie (ou peut être en hommage), j’ai ajouté un petit bout de code qui fait que la fonction de mise à jour du flux ne soit exécuté que 14% du temps.
Tout ça pour avoir des extraits de conversations entre des gens que vous ne connaissez pas qui s’affichent en bas de la page là où personne n’ira les regarder. C’est con, ça sert à rien, mais au moins c’est scientifique.
